Art Journal 06.04.2021

Just another day in paradise as you stumble to your bed.
Give anything to silence those voices ringing in your head
You thought you could find happiness just over that green hill
You thought you would be satisfied but you never will
Learn to be still
We are like sheep without a shepherd, we don't know how to be alone
So we wander 'round this desert, wind up following the wrong gods home

DLS week 10 - Surviving the elements

Long time no art journal. Restarted with a prompt from March...
Quote is by Moomin author Tove Jansson, I thought it was a good recipe for surviving:
"It is simply this:
do not tire, never lose interest, never grow indifferent —
lose your invaluable curiosity
and you let yourself die.
It's as simple as that.”

DLS week 9 - Five layers

It's been a long while since I had the time to do some art journaling. The art challenge for this one was to use at least five layers. I ignored the "Give me a high five" journal prompt. I rather used a Tina Dico song that was playing inside my head at the time. My layers were these: I used white gesso to glue some different papers to the pages. I coloured them over with some acryllics. Stencils made some of the shapes on the next layer. I wrote down the quotes. I used my new watercolour pencils in combination with my PITT artist pen to draw the flowers, circles and hearts. Finally, I stamped the little stars with acryllic paint.

DLS week 7 - Going Under(cover)

I started this a weeks ago but only added the lyrics today and I declare it finished although I'm not really happy with it. Lyrics of a song by Evanescence stuck in my had, quite a depressing song actually, but it seemed to fit the dark atmosphere of the page (underneath the green spirals and dots...).
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
I'm going under

Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
So I don't know what's real and what's not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore
I'm dying again

I'm going under

J52 week 7 - Valentine

Sting - Be Still My Beating Heart

Be still my beating heart
It would be better to be cool
It's not time to be open just yet
A lesson once learned is so hard to forget
Be still my beating heart
Or I'll be taken for a fool
It's not healthy to run at this pace
The blood runs so red to my face
I've been to every single book I know
To soothe the thoughts that plague me so
I sink like a stone that's been thrown in the ocean
My logic has drowned in a sea of emotion
Stop before you start
Be still my beating heart

Restore my broken dreams
Shattered like a falling glass
I'm not ready to be broken just yet
A lesson once learned is so hard to forget

Be still my beating heart
You must learn to stand your ground
It's not healthy to run at this pace
The blood runs so red to my face
I've been to every single book I know
To soothe the thoughts that plague me so
Stop before you start
Be still my beating heart

Never to be wrong
Never to make promises that break
It's like singing in the wind
Or writing on the surface of a lake
And I wriggle like a fish caught on dry land
And I struggle to avoid any help at hand

I sink like a stone that's been thrown in the ocean
My logic has drowned in a sea of emotion
Stop before you start
Be still my beating heart
