DLS week 9 - Five layers

It's been a long while since I had the time to do some art journaling. The art challenge for this one was to use at least five layers. I ignored the "Give me a high five" journal prompt. I rather used a Tina Dico song that was playing inside my head at the time. My layers were these: I used white gesso to glue some different papers to the pages. I coloured them over with some acryllics. Stencils made some of the shapes on the next layer. I wrote down the quotes. I used my new watercolour pencils in combination with my PITT artist pen to draw the flowers, circles and hearts. Finally, I stamped the little stars with acryllic paint.

Bathed in Moonlight

Bathed in Moonlight is the title of this postcard sent by Desirée from the Netherlands.
It got me thinking about songs that might go well with this picture.
First one I thought of was of course very obvious: Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield feat. Maggie Reilly, oh my, from 1983. And then I did a search through my music folder and the things this search came up with... very funny! Let me list a few:

Tina Dico live

Tina Dico and Helgi Jonsson in Osnabrück, 3rd March, 2013

I am so happy that I bought that ticket... I saw Tina Dico and Helgi Jonsson (her favourite musician from Iceland) last night at Rosenhof in Osnabrück. They're on an acoustic tour of Tina's latest album Where do you go to disappear (see video below). 
Her voice is simply beautiful and Helgi's voice (and music - trombone, guitar and piano) adds up perfectly. They are so cute together, laughing and having this quiet musical understanding, it was wonderful to see and hear and feel.
She promised a "party of the senses" at the beginning of the concert - if we the audience wanted to have a party - and she kept her word.
It was amazing and breathtaking, goosebumps, laughter and tears. 
Thank you for this journey, Tina!

Tina Dico: Where do you go to disappear?

Tina Dico, dänische Singer/Songwriterin, hat seit einigen Tagen ein neues Album mit dem Titel Where do you go to disappear? Im Vorfeld gab es schon zwei Videos zu sehen, "Moon to let" und "You wanna teach me to dance". Beide sind zu sehen auf ihrer Website: tinadickow.dk
Wie in dem Video zu "You wanna teach me to dance" sehen ist, lebt Tina Dico inzwischen in Island, einem kreativen Rückzugsort wie es scheint.
Das Album selbst enthält sowohl die typisch melancholischen Gitarren-Balladen, die man von den vorhergegangenen Alben (etwa Welcome Back Colour, 2010) kennt, aber mit "You wanna teach me to dance" oder dem Titeltrack "Where do you go to disappear?" durchaus auch poppigere, fröhlichere Klänge. Das Album ist abwechslungsreich, ihre Stimme nach wie vor hörenswert.

Bemerkenswert finde ich den Titel und damit die Frage des Albums: Wohin gehst du, wenn du verschwinden willst? Im Songtext zählt sie einige Möglichkeiten auf, sie selbst scheint sich dafür, wie bereits erwähnt, Island ausgesucht zu haben (eine sehr nachvollziehbare Wahl, wie ich finde) - und man selbst? Man wird daran erinnert, dass es wichtig ist, so einen Ort zu haben, einen Ort, an dem man verschwinden kann, sich selbst und die Welt loslassen kann, um den Kopf freizubekommen, frei zu werden, ganz zu werden.
Ich kenne einige meiner Orte, aber man muss sich auch daran erinnern, sie auch aufzusuchen, und man wird immer wieder neue finden können.
