J.R.R. Tolkien - Letters from Father Christmas

It is very sweet that Tolkien wrote a letter as Father Christmas for his children every year. He started with a very short one in 1920 and drew pictures of Father Christmas and his house, the last letter is from 1943. In between, Tolkien did what he does best - he created a whole world around the Father Christmas idea. Many characters come to life, for example the Polar Bear, and join in telling stories and argueing in funny ways with Father Christmas.
Although a paperback, this edition is beautiful, showing all the pictures and letters as originals aswell as the transcripted text. Tolkien had fun writing wobbly letters and runes in these letters too. There are little biographical hints about the different kids in these letters and a few political/historical references when it came to WWII.
J.R.R. Tolkien's Letters from Father Christmas give an insight in Tolkien's humour, his way of talking to his kids and - some of them - include cute little stories.
