Before reading the new Tempe novel there was another short story to read. So this is #17.5 of the series.
Bones on Ice is about a frozen body shipped back from the Mount Everest to Charlotte. Tempe Brennan is forced to work on the case by some rich and highly influential family. The body has to defrost over a longer period of time which is why Tempe discovers new evidence on the body every day.
For a short story of just little more than a 100 pages Reichs manages to construct a good story with some interesting turns. At the end Tempe makes her usual (!) mistake and confronts the suspect on her own instead of waiting for the cops to help her. But as usual she gets out alive and kicking.
